Dragline Buckets

CQMS Hurricane Bucket

LC Engineering is arguably the world’s premier Dragline Bucket design house. The first Dragline Bucket was designed for Central Queensland Mining Supplies (CQMS) back in 1995 and LC Engineering has since gone on to design and project manage the Engineering (from concept through to fabrication) for a further 230 buckets and counting!

Through our Scale Testing program and highly innovative Design Team we can provide Dragline Bucket engineering solutions with the end users' needs in mind through:

  • Designing and sizing of Dragline buckets with the appropriate engineering considerations
  • Creating high efficiency Dragline Bucket designs
  • Knowing the effects of digging conditions and techniques
  • Knowing the influence of drag power on fill energy
  • Knowing the true affect of Rated Suspended Load on Dragline performance
  • Knowing the effects of bucket digging relating to fatigue
  • Improving Dragline payload
  • Reducing Dragline energy usage through more efficient Dragline Bucket design
  • Collecting real data and real results from monitoring the processes
  • and examining maintenance versus production issues

Universal Dig and Dump (UDD) Parallel Rigs

LC Engineering invented the Parallel Rig concept, patented by CQMS, as a more cost-effective alternative to the UDD rigging dragline conversions originally patented by Bob Beatty. The research behind this work has made LC world leaders in understanding the principles behind these rigging systems.

As a result LC Engineering also understands the implications of UDD on rigging design, bucket design and dragline control system requirements.

With CQMS, LC Engineering has designed all of the UDD specific buckets, and are BMA approved certifiers for UDD bucket designs.
